International and Public Relations
EAMT is a member of many of international organisations and an active participant in educational programmes financed by the European Union. The number of partner universities, including several leading European music and theatre universities, exceeds 120. Short-term master’s courses by visiting professors have become a natural part of the study programme; in addition, EAMT collaborates regularly with about ten visiting professors. EAMT participates as an organiser or a partner in intensive international programmes with a number of universities. For example, from autumn 2014, the first Estonian international joint curriculum in the field of music – Contemporary Performance and Composition – was developed in collaboration with music higher education institutions in Stockholm, Hamburg and Lyon.
The Academy also promotes the education of its students in prestigious European music universities via a variety of international programmes and scholarships.
Student exchange has been most active through the Erasmus programme, where EAMT has participated since 1999. The programme facilitates student and professor exchange and intensive projects (short-term study programmes between students and professors from different countries and universities), as well as curricular development projects.
In 2008, Estonia joined Nordplus, a collaboration network for the Nordic countries and Baltic States that aims to strengthen and develop educational collaboration in the Nordic countries and contribute to a common Nordic and Baltic education system. The programme supports mobility, projects and networks; it is directed towards institutions and organisations working in the education and lifelong learning sector. EAMT is a member of Sibelius, a network for classical music, Nordplus, a network for jazz music, EMD, a network for dance and music, NordTrad, a network for traditional music, Norteas, a network for theatre, Nordopera, a network for opera, and NNME, a network for school music.
EAMT has also joined DoRa Plus, an higher education internationalisation programme that was launched in 2015. The programme is implemented by the Archimedes Foundation sub-unit Centre for Higher Education Development, with Estonian institutions of higher education involved as partners. Master and doctoral programme students and young researchers are the main target groups of the programme.
EAMT continues to participate in specialist collaborative networks, like Association Europeenne des Conservatoires, Academies de Musique et Musikhochschulen (AEC), European League of the Institutes of Arts (ELIA), Association of Baltic Academies of Music (ABAM), European Arts Management Education Network (ENCATC), Arts Management Society (AIMAC), International Network of Cooperation in the Arts (NICA), and International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ).
