Paweł Gusnar is one of the few saxophonists connecting the equally high level of activity in the field of classical, jazz and pop music. He performs on the stages of prestigious concert halls – philharmonic and chamber, both in Poland and abroad. As a soloist he gave concerts with orchestras including Sinfonia Varsovia, the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Amadeus, Concerto Avenna, NOSPR, Royal Northern College of Music, Orchestre Valentiana, Lviv Chamber Orchestra Academia and almost all philharmonic orchestras in Poland. He cooperates with numerous symphony orchestras and jazz bands as the Kukla Band, the Tomasz Szymuś Orchestra, Krzysztof Herdzin Big Band. He performs and records as a session musician as well (numerous TV productions).
Gusnar is a great promoter of contemporary music and inspiration for many Polish composers. He took part in numerous premieres, just to mention the last concerts for saxophone and orchestra by K. Penderecki, B.K. Przybylski, K. Herdzin, K. Knittel or B. Kowalski, as well as premieres of chamber music.
He has recorded nearly 50 albums, including six in solo: New Polish Music for saxophone and organ, Jazz Sonatas, Komeda-Inspiration, Saxophone Impressions and Saxophone Varie – prize-winning to the Fryderyk 2014 award, Saxophone Varie vol.2. He was nominated for this award several times, also in the category of Artist of the Year. The winner of Fryderyk 2015 (Paweł Łukaszewski. Musica Sacra 5) and Fryderyk 2016 (Verbum Incarnatum recorded with Mulierum Schola Gregoriana Clamaverunt Iusti). The artist was nominated three times to the prestigious title Coryphaeus of Polish Music (2014, 2015, 2017).
As an unquestionable authority he is invited as a juror at competitions, and as a lecturer to the master classes in the best musical centers of the world – from Odessa through Vienna, Hanover, Zurich, up to Strasbourg and Paris. He is a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, where he teaches saxophone and he has also worked at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Łódź Academy of Music. In April of 2016 he was elected to the position of vice-rector FCUM the term 2016–2020.
