SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS for FOREIGN STUDENTS
for the ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-2020

26 September @16.00 in the Chamber hall (C-405) of EAMT: MA students of Contemporary Improvisation

26 September @17.00 at Tallinn Ballet School (Toom-Kooli str 11) MA students of Contemporary Physical Performance Making (CPPM)

14 October @10.00 in the Chamber hall (C-405) of EAMT: all the other majors

Available are following scholarships:

1) EAMT scholarships for non-EU students at BA and MA levels covering either 50% or 25% of the tuition fee

2) DoRa Plus programme scholarships for all foreign students at MA level awarded for one academic year (350€ per month paid from September to June)

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for the EAMT scholarships:

  • BA and MA students, who are non-EU citizens (NB! Not applicable for the MA students of Cultural Management and Contemporary Physical Performance Making)

- students who were admitted for the academic year 2019-2020: entrance examination result at least 9 at BA level or at least 4 at MA level

- students who were admitted earlier: last examination result in main study at least "very good"

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS for DoRa Plus scholarships:

  • MA 1st year students:
    - who is a full-time student;
    - who does not have Estonian citizenship;
    - whose place of residence is not in Estonia;
    - who does not have a permanent right of residence or a long-term residence permit in Estonia;
    - who has not stayed in Estonia for more than one year in the past three years; 
    - had the entrance examination result at least 4, in case of CCPM at least 8.
  • MA 2nd year students:
    - who is a full-time student;
    - who does not have Estonian citizenship;
    - whose place of residence is not in Estonia;
    - who does not have a permanent right of residence or a long-term residence permit in Estonia;
    - who has not stayed in Estonia for more than one year in the past three years; 
    - who has completed the 1st year coursework full (no missing credit points) and in programme subjects   worth at least 54 ECTS credits;
    - who has completed the 1st year coursework with the examination result in main study at least "very good", in case of cultural management with the average grade at least 3,5.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Performers: live performance of at least 2 pieces with the max length of 15 min (the judging panel has the right to interrupt the performance at its own discretion);
  • Contemporary Improvisation: 2-3 improvisations with different character out of which 1 is solo and the other(s) ensemble (duo, trio etc) improvisations with the total length of 10 min;
  • Contemporary Physical Performance Making: original solo performance, created and performed by the candidate with the max duration of 5 min;
  •  Other majors: artistic portfolio, including list of artistic activities within last 2 years, scores, recordings etc;
  • Cultural management: written summary and development plan of the master’s thesis of max 2 pages  (font: Times New Roman 12; space: 1.5).

The audition panel evaluates and considers following:

  • persuasiveness and originality of artistic and/or research ideas of a candidate;
  • performance logic and fluency of performance, ability to express the emotional content of works and impressiveness of interpretation (in case of performers);
  • originality, artistic persuasiveness and technical execution in case of creative submissions (composers);
  • specialty-specific level of technical mastery;
  • defined focus and systematic nature of the thesis plan, the reference literature use as well as accuracy of language (in cultural management);
  • general cultural and subject-specific knowledge of a candidate.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Application forms of the MA students of Contemporary Improvisation (CI) and Contemporary Physical Performance Making (CPPM) should be sent to the coordinator of the DoRa programme Kai Kiiv (kai@ema.edu.ee) by 19 September 2019;

Application forms of performers should be sent along with the applications to the coordinator of the DoRa programme Kai Kiiv (kai@ema.edu.ee) by 3 October 2019;

Application forms + portfolios of the students of the other majors and thesis plans of Cultural Management MA students should be sent to the coordinator of the DoRa programme Kai Kiiv (kai@ema.edu.ee) by 3 October 2019.

EUROPEAN UNION YOUTH ORCHESTRA 2020

All applicants for the 2020 Orchestra must be aged between 16 and 26 inclusive on 31 December 2019 and hold passports from 1 of the 28 European Union member countries. Precise rules and regulations are available here.

The audition will take place in two rounds:

  • Pre-audition for wind, brass and percussion: 28 October at 14.30 in the Chamber hall (C-405)
  • Pre-audition for strings: 29 October at 15.00 in D-409
  • Final audition: 1 November 2019 at 10.00 in the Organ hall (A-404)

REPERTOIRE
Candidates will be asked to play a prepared piece of their own choosing (eg a movement from a concerto, sonata etc) and a selection of Orchestral Extracts.
NB! Percussionists will be asked to play a selection of prepared orchestral extracts only (no piece).

All the candidates are requested to fill in the application form and send it by 18 October 2019 latest to kai@ema.edu.ee.
